Puppy Board and Train Program
Puppy training and socialization offered by Mile High Dog Training, LLC

Alisha Smith, owner of Mile High Dog Training, LLC is providing a two week Puppy Board and Train program. During this time, your puppy will receive all of the necessities he or she needs to lead a balanced and happy life. Your puppy will benefit from receiving structured training and socialization in a home setting, using positive reinforcement methods, all taught by a Certified Animal Behaviorist.

Black Canyon Labradoodle puppies who are entered into my Puppy Board and Train Program, located in Montrose, Colorado will start their training and socialization between 8 and 12 weeks of age. Training and proper socialization is important at this age. Puppies enter into their Critical Socialization Period at 7 weeks and it only lasts until they are 16 weeks old. During this time it is very important for them to have positive interactions with dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages. It is also important for them to be around people of the same variety. During this time it is also good to get puppies use to living in a family type setting. Getting them use to sounds, routines, bicycles, cars, being groomed, etc.
Vaccinations your puppy has had will dictate the amount of socialization outside of my house they will receive.
Even with a jump start on the socialization, it is something that needs to be continued throughout your dog's life. You will receive instructions on how to continue socialization.

Aside from socialization, your puppy will receive plenty of training during his or her time with me.

Crate/Kennel Training
There are many benefits to crate training a dog. Whether you decide you want to kennel in the future or not, your puppy will start kennel training while with me. Aside from helping drastically with potty training, the kennel provides a sense of security for your dog. It helps reduce separation anxiety, gives the dog a place of it's own, and helps balance your dog out. It is also helpful because it gives you a safe place to put your dog when you are unable to provide adequate supervision.

Leash Walking
Teaching your dog to walk on a leash without pulling is one of the longest behaviors to train. Your puppy will receive 2, 20 minute walks a day while with me. This doesn't include quick walks for potty breaks. This is a walk meant for exercise and training purposes.

Basic Commands
I encourage owners to pick what commands they want their dogs to learn. If you want a special language, or have a unique way of training your dog that you would like implemented, I will follow your instruction. If not, your puppy will learn sit, lay down, stay, leave it, and coming when called. Detailed information on the commands and instruction will be provided.

Problem Prevention
During your puppy's stay with me, your puppy will also get a jumpstart on learning which behaviors are acceptable and which ones aren't. We will work on discouraging jumping, nipping, chewing, and anything else your puppy might do that's undesirable. We will work on learning boundaries, sitting and waiting gefore they are fed their food, sitting while being pet, not begging, learning to wait before entering and exiting the house, and any items that may be unique to your home life that you want implemented in the training.

Guarantee
At the end of your puppy's training session, you will receive detailed emails going over everything your puppy has learned, step by step, as well as a schedule that you can follow once your puppy goes home. For the first 6 months after your puppy goes home, I will offer unlimited telephone and email consultations if you are outside of my service area. If you are within my service area (up to 60 miles from Montrose, CO. Up to 400 miles at $.25 a mile if outside my service area, but still in Colorado, Utah, or New Mexico.) I will offer 2 free follow up visits within those 6 months.

Pricing
The Puppy Board and Train Program is $550 for 2 weeks. While everything I listed above can get trained in 2 weeks, some people prefer a longer training program. Each day after 14 is $39.28 which is a breakdown from the regular price. Full payments for training must be received by the time your puppy is 7 weeks old. Or a week before training is set to start.
